Financial Astrology in Mercury Retrograde

How does Mercury retrograde impact your finances?
Ordinarily, this wouldn’t be a subject I’d harp on a whole lot, but, this particular retrograde station- hitting on the 28th, is parked in Taurus. When it comes to Mercury, in and of itself, this is the planet that rules not only communication, but also, commerce and trade concerns.
Let’s look at a few things you should be doing during the next three weeks or so, financially, to make the most of this cycle.
- Bookkeeping. If you’ve got a shoebox full of receipts for your taxes, it might be a good time to change that system. Take the next three weeks to better organize anything to do with your accounting and bookkeeping.
- Research the investments that you’ve been eyeing- but drop no money on them, yet.
- Negotiate new contracts, or revise old ones where you can.
- Reconsider existing investments and deals you’ve been working on. Pull up the contracts, the numbers, and otherwise- you will likely find places you can change, better organize, or even rework entirely so that it all shapes up better for you.
Conversely, here are some things you should avoid:
- Starting new projects or getting into new partnerships.
- Do not invest in anything for the next few weeks, but rather: research them better.
- Don’t take out any loans, do not lend any money during this time.
- No major purchases.
- Avoid gambling of any sort, and don’t take any risks if you can avoid them.
What about career changes during Mercury retrograde?
Generally speaking, not a fantastic idea. However, this can be an excellent time if you are seeking out new employment or considering starting your own business. It may not seem that way, with all the technological and communication issues: but, Mercury retrograde in Taurus tends to be an excellent time to also reconsider how you feel about your finances and the way you obtain them. In addition to that, you may find that opportunities you thought had passed you by have a way of resurfacing- either just by chance or as a result of you digging them back up to look again.
Though you may find that business slows a little and the things you’re chasing after have a way of seeming somewhat far off during this time- that’s actually a good thing. This is when you should be working on those things you’ve left unfinished- be they doors that simply need closing, projects that need finishing up before you can start promising new ones, or organizing things better.
Beyond Mercury Retrograde
So far, this year has been a very intense one in terms of financial upheaval and otherwise. There are a number of serious patterns happening in both Taurus and Scorpio- both signs that impact money in dramatic ways. If you look at the chart for Wall Street, in particular, things are….interesting.
By interesting, I mean, I am looking at this, and you can see that the IC, or the Imum Coeli, is in Scorpio whereas at its opposite is this hot mess of Taurus and Taurus related things. So, we tie this into the Mercury retrograde cycle- which actually began in its shadow around April 14th, and I believe you’re going to see sharemarket prices do some really hairy things. I would predict serious fluctuations in that market just based on this alone- but…since this is a somewhat global issue, a look at the markets that are at play here can help to flesh this out a great deal. I won’t post those charts, but if we look at the UK and China in particular: things get mighty weird, mighty quickly over the course of the next few months. More Taurus, More Scorpio- which, by the way, that’s to be expected: they are opposite each other in the zodiac.
What concerns me in looking at this is actually something I saw when looking at the UK- there is a Neptune influence in Scorpio here and given all the UK’s issues with credit, I’d say there’s a great deal of build up for another highly problematic issue with debt to emerge. For the time being, however, unrealistic spending is likely fueled by that Neptunian influence, and this is not a good thing at all.
To break it down and attempt some sort of prediction for this particular Mercury retrograde cycle, I am forecasting some serious tech-related issues impacting Wall Street in tandem with a rocky, weird, chaotic ride in those sharemarkets. Further, I believe that Scorpio full moon on the 22nd is going to be driving the bus so to speak, and it’s highly likely that a number of extremely heavy financial challenges will emerge right around that date.
I think I’d best sum this up with a quote from Jurassic Park:
