Happy Birthday, Cancer! June 22 - July 22

Happy Birthday to all the Cancer natives out there!

It was a little weird not putting a text to the video last month with the Geminis, so, I decided to go back to doing the companion texts. Now, Cancer is the 4th sign of the zodiac, and it’s signified by the crab. Cancers, on the whole, are a fairly sympathetic bunch, very laid back and calm- but then, may very quickly flip over into being easily annoyed and intense. This sign’s stereotype tends to be something along the lines of “Oh, those moody Cancers!” but I think that tends to be an oversimplification.

You see, Cancers are ruled by the Moon, and the sign’s element is water. What often happens is, they are seen as moody because they’ve been really trying to understand, they’ve been trying to be incredibly sensitive to others’ needs for a long time- and neglecting their own or. Another thing that often happens is, even as they have been giving, giving, giving- the other person’s only been taking, taking, taking. For a while, the Cancer has been trying to figure out exactly where they have failed and what they did to make this happen when...really, usually, that’s not what’s at play. Eventually, they come to recognize, “Hey, this person’s just a big, huge jerk!” and they snap. Rather, unfortunately, those snaps can often carry a blast radius, taking out those who didn’t actually do anything. This is where you get the “Sweet and considerate one minute, irritable the next” more often than not.

One of the most awesome things about a Cancer is their loyalty- which is why that can sometimes occur. Once one of these natives has decided that you’ve earned that tenacious loyalty, it’s hard to convince themselves to do anything less than stand completely firm in it. What tends to happen, then, is if the person they’ve given this steadfastness to is building up a bit of resentment in them- someone else’s actions might remind them of the hurts they’re feeling as a result. Lashing out at someone they don’t know or care much about is usually easier than directly confronting the pain they are feeling and the person causing it. Once they have learned healthy ways to express themselves to those they care about, however: this all gets a bit easier, and that deep- often nearly psychic level of intuitiveness can shine through, fully.

When the Sun is in Cancer (for everyone)

Sometimes, there’s a tendency to get pretty emotional. Cancer usually brings up our pasts, whether that’s nostalgia or a bit of baggage. We also may be feeling much more nurturing- without initially expecting anything back, but, if it goes on too long without reciprocity: things can get pretty grouchy.

This is a wonderful time, however, to tap into the more intuitive, to make stronger emotional connections and solidify our relationships with others: romantic or otherwise. While the Sun was in Gemini, flirtiness may have been all in good fun- but when it’s in Cancer, we begin to take such things a bit more seriously. This can have us feeling vulnerable and quiet nights on the homefront, rather than being out and about may be a lot more appealing.
