Hugh Jackman: Serious Superhero
Posted by Elizabeth Hazel on 8th Oct 2015
Hugh Jackman celebrates his 47th on October 12, a few days after the October 9th release of his new film “Pan.” Both Mars and Jupiter in Virgo are returning to their places in his birth chart. Virgo is a sign associated with labor and this is an actor, singer, dancer, and all around good guy who works and works and works!
Jackman has a Libra Sun and natal Mercury retrograde! It’s surprising to discover how many famous individuals were born with Mercury retrograde. It signifies that a change in life direction will take place and this is true for Jackman. He completed a degree in communications at the University of Technology in Sydney, Australian in 1991. Participating in a stage production led him to discover how much he loved acting, but he still had little confidence in succeeding in the profession. He said, “It wasn’t until I was 22 that I ever thought about my hobby being something I could make a living out of…It wasn’t what one did for a living. I got over that. I found the courage to stand up and say, ‘I want to do it’.”
To bolster his chops, Jackman attended the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, from which he graduated in 1994. He immediately was offered a job in a television series after graduation. He met his future wife Deborra-Lee during the production.
Jackman never seems to stop! He moves from the stage shows to film work to hosting awards shows to doing voice-overs for cartoon characters with seemingly effortless ease. For someone so phenomenally talented, Jackman has a great deal of humbleness about his abilities. This is in part due to his natal Sun and Mercury being in opposition to Saturn in Aries. Sun-Saturn oppositions can make it difficult to feel self-confidence as Saturn shrinks one’s sense of self and ability. Like a lot of Libras, Jackman gains reassurance through partnerships. He’s remained in his marriage and works repeatedly with actor-friends like Halle Berry and Ian McKellan.
Hugh Jackman is also a dedicated philanthropist who donates to worthy causes and dedicates the proceeds from shows to charities. He’s a genuine nice guy and super-hero to those in need, which is shown by the trine between his Libra Sun and Gemini Moon. Sun-Moon trines make it easier to balance the intellectual and emotional sides of the personality. He radiates charm and friendliness. In addition, Jackman’s Venus in Scorpio sextiles his Jupiter in Virgo. This is an aspect of abundance and bounty and a sign of a generous spirit. His Venus in Scorpio gives sympathy for those who struggle in life and have unmet survival needs.
Jackman’s Gemini Moon also squares his Mars in Virgo, which is a sign of exceptional energy that has to be channeled into exercise and sports. He is a supporter of various sports teams, professional wrestling, and is an enthusiastic sportsman and athlete. Moon-Mars squares can also signify a lot of restlessness. Jackman has practiced transcendental meditation since age 20, is a member of the School of Practical Philosophy, and does yoga. He says that meditation “makes me calm and happy, and, well, it gives me some peace and quiet in what’s a pretty chaotic life!” He works with the David Lynch Foundation to promote and share meditation with everyone from PTSD sufferers to inner-city kids.
Even though Jackman is playing the bad guy Blackbeard in “Pan”, he’s a true super-hero to people around the world and a fantastic role model for people who struggle with overcoming a lack of self-confidence
