Kelly Osbourne: Zingers and Stingers

It can’t be easy being the middle child in a rock and roll family. Kelly Osbourne, born October 27, 1984, arrives at her 31st birthday next week. Many changes have taken place in her life over the past year, and these will continue for the next few years.
Kelly’s Scorpio Sun is conjunct Pluto. Pluto’s entrance into Scorpio during the mid-1980s coincided with Madonna’s career peak. Madonna’s fame was based in part on breaking taboos relating to sex and materialism. Kelly’s famous father, Ozzy Osbourne, broke some taboos, too! Kelly’s natal Sun-Pluto conjunction moves her toward intense issues and forbidden and touchy topics. Her chart also includes a Mercury-Saturn conjunction in Scorpio sextile Mars in Capricorn. It frequently manifests as her gift for sharp speaking and witty retorts.
Kelly’s natal planets are clustered in Scorpio, Sagittarius and Capricorn. This is called a “bowl shaped” chart. The tightly packed planets are opposite her Gemini Ascendant and below her Aquarius Midheaven. She has no planets in air signs, yet the air signs are on her major axis points. She’s driven toward expressing her planets through airy venues like talk-shows, singing, and most recently, by designing her own line of clothing. It is notable that the sign-rulers of Gemini and Aquarius, Mercury and Saturn, are conjunct in her chart. She has a single-minded focus on goals while funneling experiences through the lens of her unique perspective and wisdom about human nature. Being wise about people doesn’t always translate into being wise about actions, however.
Kelly’s Moon is accompanied by Venus and Uranus in Sagittarius. This combination stirs up a lot of curiosity about other people, reflecting edgy trends and styles, and involvement in diverse interests. Sagittarius is associated with generosity and openness, and there’s no doubt that Kelly speaks her mind. She recently left “Fashion Police” because of alleged racist remarks. There was more to it than that. Kelly’s life is entering a period of dramatic restructuring. She will gradually redefine her identity and interests. Kelly had her Saturn return in her Sun sign a few years ago. As Saturn travels through her Moon sign, she will seek long-term activities that offer more lasting outcomes.
With Neptune on her seventh house cusp, Kelly is drawn toward celebrities and high-profile individuals. Yet Jupiter in Capricorn in her seventh house presents a dichotomy, as she describes celebrities as the "most ridiculous people." Capricornian skepticism offsets Sagittarian enthusiasm. She is currently promoting red-carpet “interview equality” by asking interviewers to ask women about their careers (questions typically asked of men) rather than limiting interviews to remarks about appearances.
Bowl-shaped birth charts give an advantage because the planetary energy is concentrated in a sector of the zodiac. That gives focus and intensity. However, when planets make difficult contacts to that sector, it can seem like a person can’t put a foot in the right place without landing in a puddle! The super-cluster or “stellium” of Venus, Mars and Jupiter traveling through Virgo during September and October 2015 squares Kelly’s natal Sagittarian planets. Sagittarius has a notorious propensity for “hoof in mouth” disease. Her careless remarks on “The View” are an example of how good judgment can fall behind her fast-talking Sagittarius Moon. Kelly’s Sag Moon is part of why she is such a delightful personality, but it can also get her in trouble.
