October 2016 Monthly Star Blast Horoscopes

Hey, all!

Pumpkin spice all the things, it is now October! As we all know, this is a special time of year; by legend, the veil between all the worlds gets thinner this month leading up to Halloween, Samhain, or All Hallow’s (depending on your flavor), and it’s especially thin this year. We have in front of us the rare occurrence of The Black Moon on October 30. What is a Black Moon, you might ask? Don’t Google it; you’ll only find stuff on Lilith, Luna’s apogee, or the asteroid named “Lilith.”

There you have it, I’ve just mooned you. Whether you consider this a trick or a treat, I suppose, depends largely on you. ☺ The full moon has some interesting aspects at play, as well, and we’ll explore that more fully on our Facebook page as we come closer to time.

The Black Moon I’m talking about is the equally rare counterpart of what most people call a Blue Moon. Less is really known or understood about it than its brighter counterpart. But this much we know: it is, essentially, a New Moon times two. As the New Moon is essentially the open door between two worlds, it’s fair to say that the Black Moon has kicked the door off its hinges. Some say it’s the best time to do spellwork, communicate with the dearly departed, and plant the seeds for the future, some say the worst. Both agree that it’s extremely hard to predict the magnitude of the results. Now consider the odds of this happening the day before Halloween…

Going to be quite a few tricks and treats for you, then, that’s for sure.

Aries
March 21 - April 19

This month is going to be... ummm... an interesting month for everyone, but especially to you, Aries. Mars is a huge player in the field this October, and thankfully, competitive sports are in, because you’ll want an outlet for Mars’ aggressive energy. “Testy” is an understatement…

October starts right off with a New Moon on the First, and meanwhile, Pluto is sextile Lilith until the 11th, and Venus is trine Neptune. The New Moon is always symbolic of a transition from one cycle to another, and what you do now prepares the way for things to come. You’re faced with a choice, dear Aries: power struggles or soft romance? Your natural inclination will tend toward the more aggressive approach, and with Venus in Scorpio, there’s already an “all or nothing” attitude going on.

Meanwhile, Mars is square Jupiter from the 4th to the 8th, and after Venus leaves the Neptune trine, she enters a conjunction with Lilith and sextile with Pluto from the 5th to the 7th. These events turn the competitive drive between the sexes up to... well, it breaks the dial. It’s best that you take this energy out on a football field.

There is a brief “half time” breather between the 11th and the 16th, as Pluto and Lilith break from their bickering as Mars dives into a sextile with Neptune to cool off. On the 16th, the Harvest Moon will shine in Aries, sparking more competition for the rest of the month, as Mars first conjuncts Pluto (again, breaking that competition dial), sextiles Lilith, and squares Uranus.

Meanwhile, Venus has moved into Sagittarius and done some thinking. Squaring Neptune and sextiling Jupiter in turn, she conjuncts Saturn from the 29th to the 31st, becoming the voice of reason. Realization of resentments and jealousies come to the surface and must be dealt with.

This takes us to The Black Moon. Both this Moon and its date are about releasing the old and opening the way for the new. Combined, this truly is a reckoning day. Is winning worth the cost? Is the situation worth saving? Is cooperation possible? Choose well, dear Aries.

Taurus
April 20 - May 20

Being ruled by Venus, you would think that you might be immune to the aggressive energies afoot this month, Taurus, but that actually puts you in the thick of it, unfortunately. The vibe starts off softly enough when your ruler is trine Neptune. As power isn’t typically a concern of yours, you’re mostly insulated against the aggressive Pluto/Lilith sextile. Except for one thing: Venus is transiting Scorpio right now, so in the realms of love, things are very black and white for you right now.

The proverbial “straw that broke the camel’s back” comes on the 5th, when Venus conjuncts liberating Lilith and sextiles powerful Pluto. From then until the 7th, you’re of a mind to get back at your “oppressors,” and there is no quarter. That gets a huge cooling down on the 14th with a kiss from a Luna trine, and Venus enters Sagittarius on the 18th to think about the big picture.

During this time, Venus has dalliances with Neptune and Jupiter late in the month, and it may involve experiments with “free love,” “open relationships,” or love affairs. This all will likely come to a screeching halt on the 29th when Venus conjuncts Saturn. Jealousies and resentments are examined. The head must take over the heart and think things through because this Black Moon spells a major change in your life direction.

Gemini
May 21 - June 20

Passion. Emotions. You’re beyond these things thanks to cold logic, Gemini, or so you think sometimes. The problem is that often enough, this can make you an agent provocateur. You do mean well, naturally, but as your ruler passes through Virgo, Libra, and Scorpio this month, you start off perhaps a little too cerebral, and by the end of the month, you could seem to be among the least logical, ironically.

You weather the aggressive storms around you early in the month well enough, the antics of Mars, Venus, Pluto, and Lilith don’t pertain to you a whole lot. In fact, come the 11th and 12th, you might be feeling pretty good about yourself in staying out of all of that when Mercury conjuncts Jupiter. You may be a little bit overconfident and get blindsided by Mercury squaring Mars from the 13th to the 15th. Out of nowhere, huge arguments flare up, reckless decisions are made, and regretful words are said. During the Harvest Moon, take care that you don’t speak in extremes and absolutes, with Mercury squaring Pluto, you could quickly find yourself talking to an empty room that way.

Things cool down for you for a few days until the 20th. On that day and the next, you are likely to speak of things that no one else thinks about, and there’s a huge risk of communication breakdowns, and you could feel jaded into keeping things to yourself, being sarcastic, and maybe feeling a smidge suspicious of others as Mercury enters Scorpio.

Really, the sting of social faux pas isn’t all that strange to you, as you might say, “they can’t all be zingers.” The thing is, there’s a certain level of social sensitivity that tends to be beyond your grasp that could make that happen less often, if you take advantage of the Black Moon’s influence.

Cancer
June 21 - July 22

Being possibly the most emotionally changeable of the signs, there’s a good chance that you may feel like a crab in a boil this month, Cancer. On the plus side, this means that you will have burned through much of the aggravation that the Mars and Venus ruled signs (Aries, Scorpio, Taurus, Libra) will encounter throughout. On the downside, there’s a whole range of emotional experience that the others won’t understand for now, and you’ll be revisiting some of those early issues more than once.

Starting with a New Moon in Libra this month, you may feel pretty good about the start; you do enjoy feeling balanced and in control of things. You gain focus by the 3rd, point it at bigger issues by the 8th, and so on, to begin the cycle again on the 28th. All the while, you encounter the similar ups and downs from last month, though a few things have changed this month. For one thing, Jupiter the Exalted Planet has moved into Libra this time, starting a new cycle of wellbeing discovered in justice and art. Venus, Mercury, and Mars also have a different air to them, moving through the second half of the zodiac this time. Things are generally focused on others more than yourself during this time.

Of course, this month is quite a rollercoaster for you emotionally, since not only are you encountering plenty of power and competition issues, you have the Harvest Moon on the 16th, and two New Moons this month. It’s a huge month for beginning things, and when it all comes down, it’s all about privacy and autonomy.

Leo
July 23 - August 22

This month is a fresh start for you twice-over, dear Leo. We start right off with a New Moon and wrap it up with another one – the lesser known Black Moon. If the New Moon is a fresh start, then you should be more than happy for that second-second chance on Halloween. Not that you’re “down in it” as much as… say… Aries, but you’re not exempt from the air of “dem’s fightin’ words” that flavors this month. Especially once your ruler and ours, the Sun, enters Scorpio.

It all starts fairly lightly for you after the New Moon. After a few days, about a half a week, you really think you’ve got it all together. You’re handling things responsibly. You exercise restraint and get past obstacles and roadblocks. But between the 7th and the 9th, The Sun is square Pluto, giving you a huge drive to dominate the scene, and drastic changes could occur in your environment as a result. Manipulation is also an issue. Thankfully, it’s short-lived, and it will be a while before much of anything else happens…

Between the 14th and the 16th, The Sun will be opposite Uranus, bringing up a different kind of power dynamic issue. In this case, it isn’t so much that you’re trying to dominate anyone else, it’s that tensions are strained between you and others in your hierarchy. Your immediate superior and you could have issues, your immediate inferior and you can have issues. It is something of a universal thing, but you’ll be extra affected.

On the 23rd, when your lord the Sun enters Scorpio, we’ll be entering that time of year you’re not especially comfortable with. To you, the colors become kinda drab, the light gets kinda dim, and overall, you think the whole thing’s somewhat dismal. This is where a change of attitude comes in, and you’ll have to make compromises. Without decay, there couldn’t be growth, without dark, there couldn’t be light, and so on. Resolving these kinds of paradoxes will do you well on Halloween, which you actually like, because “Hello, COSTUMES AND CANDY!!!” Making this change on Halloween can be just the shift of focus you need.

Virgo
August 23 - September 22

In a way, you might feel abandoned this month, as The Sun and Jupiter have already left your sign, and Mercury is only hanging out in a retrograde context. All the same, you’re somewhat relieved, since all of that responsibility is off of you and on someone else. Just remember to let that go! Now, we all know that Virgos have a (subdued and shy, as normal) admiration for the sign of Capricorn, which can make things kind of...awkward...this month.

Let’s start with Lilith sextile Pluto. You’ve pretty much always been on the side of the person in power – hence your fascination with Capricorns – and Pluto rocking that house makes it even more so! Now, with Lilith sextile Pluto, well, you may not be so sure that you want to default to who’s in charge, but you have questions, ya know? So naturally, things are kinda uneasy right now.

But of course, as these things tend to do for you, dear Virgo, you find yourself fascinated with this scary power in a schoolish sort of way... in a 50 Shades of… kind of way. Let’s face it, Virgo, you’re the Secretary, and you melt for whoever’s in charge. For that matter, you’d defend that person to the death! You just might when some planets square Pluto towards the middle-to-end of the month.

When all is said and done at Halloween, Virgo, you may have to choose between being on the winning team or the “right” team. That’s not to say that you should knee-jerk to “the other side” if your team is winning too much. Rather, it’s a moral process of if might truly does make right, or if there are principles more important than doing things “correctly.”

Libra
September 23 - October 22

As Venus is your ruler and Saturn is your exalted planet, you know full well the dichotomy of things. Libertarian or libertine, you know that there’s a point-counterpoint to everything, and exploring these extremes to find a win-win situation is your forte. This quality is something that you will definitely be called on to use this coming month, dear Libra, and as usual, it doesn’t seem to exclude you from being part of the great drama ahead of us.

The New Moon at the beginning of the month is certainly a promise to you from the start. The Sun sextiling Saturn from the 4th to the 6th solidifies your seriousness for order and harmony. But Venus, your ruling planet, has other ideas. She sextiles Pluto and is conjunct with Lilith from the 5th to the 7th, making you testy toward those in power while tapping into your own deep reserve of strength.

On the 14th, you calm down a great deal as the Moon is trine Venus. This air of calm carries you through the Full Moon on the 16th, preparing you for a time of broadening your horizons as The Goddess of Love transits into Sagittarius. The season in general after the Sun and Mercury enter Scorpio is highly sexually charged as this time of year tends to be. Amplifying this energy is what Venus is up to in Sagittarius. At least for a while…

Starting off, Venus squares Neptune from the 25th to the 27th, dovetailing in with a sextile of Jupiter from the 26th to the 28th. Remember what I was saying about broadening your horizons? You’re likely to be feeling a draw toward open relationships, illicit affairs, or polyamory. The central idea is multiple partners. This goes reasonably well for a while until Venus conjuncts Saturn between the 29th and the 31st.

At this point, the chickens you’ve released have come home to roost, and you find yourself needing to use your head in matters of love. Jealousy and suspicion issues may have come up, especially after Luna enters Scorpio on the 30th. You call a screeching halt on everything and essentially do a self-audit on your love life. The decisions you make will have a huge effect on your life for some time to come, so think things through seriously before choosing.

Scorpio
October 23 - November 21

This is your time, dear Scorpio. It’s definitely a busy month for you since you’re in the thick of all the action. This could be a good thing or a bad thing for you. I can only really say that it’s going to be intense from start to finish. Starting with the New Moon on the 1st, Pluto continues the Lilith sextile, giving you a double-whammy of power in your presence. Take care though that you’re not too kneejerk about standing up to authority. Following the 11th, this sextile breaks up, and you may have to account for your behavior, especially during the end of the month.

Between the 5th and the 7th, Venus conjuncts Lilith while sextiling Pluto, vastly increasing your magnetism to your choice of romantic partner. Take care how you use this energy, though, since your other ruler Mars will be square Jupiter between the 4th and the 8th, increasing your chances of being “called on the carpet.” It can be quite intense until Mars cools off with a Neptune sextile between the 10th and the 13th. Mercury also squares Mars between the 13th and 15th, followed being square to Pluto between the 16th and the 17th. Basically, you’ll be susceptible to feeling threatened by words or messages that you’ll be receiving during this time.

The 18th brings relief to your nerves, though, when the Moon trines Pluto and Mars conjuncts Pluto from the 18th to the 21st. In fact, during this time, you feel your personal power hit a peak with a sense that you can conquer virtually anything. This sense somewhat fades toward the tail end of that aspect, but Mars sextiles Lilith, feeding your need for justice and it may make you argumentative. Especially considering that the Sun and Mercury will be entering your sign then, solidifying your sense of empowerment. Following shortly behind, Luna enters Scorpio just in time to form the Black Moon with the Sun. Much of what you’ve been facing through the month will be good to evaluate, which mostly involves just how brutally honest you have been. What you choose to do about this will cause a massive impact in your life, so think things out thoroughly before Halloween!

Sagittarius
November 22 - December 21

This month looks quiet for you at first. In fact, the self-discipline you’ve been cultivating can be integrated within yourself relatively easily between the 4th and the 6th, when the Sun sextiles Saturn. This is especially a good thing since, at the same time, Mars will square Jupiter your ruler, representing a bit of an overblown confrontation. It confuses you usually when people get angry with you – it’s not like you give anyone a reason, but it happens to all of us from time to time.

Mercury conjuncts Jupiter on the 11th and the 12th, giving expression to your eloquence; it’s a great time for storytelling. A couple of days later, Mercury sextiles Saturn, which would be a good time for you to codify your developing disciplines and put it in writing. The Full Moon, in particular, can provide an extra dose of the energy to lay it all out, as she’ll be in Gemini.

Venus enters your sign on the 18th, taking on your particular expansive air. In fact, a new love may come into your life, just beware of going too far with it. Venus squaring Neptune and sextiling your ruler Jupiter between the 25th and 28th introduces unrealistic expectations and getting a little smothering. There’s potential for chasing your interest away in this, and between the 28th and 31st, Venus is conjunct Saturn. It’s a time where you’re going to have to view love issues logically since this aspect introduces those green-eyed monsters, jealousy, suspicion, and envy. This appears to be what you’ll be needing to sort out before the Full Moon. You’ve dallied with this kind of situation before, but now it’s extra serious to plant the seeds of change you’ll need to make this a life you would prefer.

Capricorn
December 22 - January 19

Fellow Capricorns, this looks like quite a busy month for us! Not just in work, but in love and your social life. Some of it will be stressful, such as these things can go- but there are some interesting developments on the way, for sure. The New Moon at the start of the month suggests that you have a new work project, especially considering that Mars is square to it. It’s one of those big accounts; so you may be stressing on it a bit. A partnership with a Scorpio has been testy, but mostly workable, and this can help you through this new work. Assuming that the deal is sealed by the 11th. And you may get confirmation on the 14th, when Mercury sextiles Saturn, but it may have to be you making the phone call.

Conversations might be strained during this time, because Mercury is also squaring Mars in your sign, and Pluto a little bit later. Exercise some restraint in what you say, because it could damage valuable relationships. Thankfully, on the 18th, the Moon trines Pluto and Mars conjuncts it, allowing you the time and energy... the LUXURY of dealing with all those things you’ve put on the back burner at the beginning of the month.

When Venus conjuncts Saturn on the 28th, you may find a new love interest, or a relationship that you’re already in becomes more serious. Certainly, in the realms of love, this is a time for serious thinking and planning. What may come of it is going to be huge next month, so think carefully as only you do!

Aquarius
January 20 - February 18

Things are awfully quiet for you this month, Aquarius. Almost...too quiet. Of course, the double-New Moons are a big thing, but largely, it’s just a standard month where you get the normal pings from The Moon, as you’re usually the exact right person at the exact right time, or the exact wrong person at the exact wrong time. That’s not to say that this month is without its events because they’re there.

Like for instance the Full Moon. Right around then, the Sun will be opposite Uranus, your ruler. Besides the fact of the Full Moon making people a little crazy as a general rule, this opposition can definitely make people act a little odd; you know, an awful lot like you. Actually, a lot odd, because unpredictability is the rule, and bosses can get a little...medieval. Luckily for you, this is the kind of environment that you thrive in!

Later on, Mercury opposes Uranus, around the 20th and 21st. Whereas people acted out of character when the Sun was opposite Uranus, people talk out of character during this time. New ideas abound, and breakthroughs in problem-solving are enabled. That or things could go amazingly wrong. Never a dull moment when these two planets come into aspect.

At the end of the month, things get REALLY interesting for you. Mars squares Uranus, and Venus conjuncts your old ruler, Saturn. Saturn still has some influence in your life, despite the relative innovation that the discovery of Uranus provided. Accepting this can save you from some massive arguments and pressures since the Venus conjunction demands logical discussions from the heart.

Pisces
February 19 - March 20

You aren’t quite as subject to the neaps and tides of the ocean as your buddy Cancer, but it does have its effects on you, especially if you hang out with Cancers and get that second-hand mood shift. For that matter, you’re not as subject to the aggressive strains that other people around you may be experiencing. Again, you’re somewhat influenced, since you’re very impressionable. By and large, though, you will exert some influence on the atmosphere of this month.

This month, both by the season and by the Moon cycles, the veil between “here” and “there” are extremely thin. People you wouldn’t normally expect may seek you out for spiritual advice, and maybe even advice on dealing with suddenly very “in your face” spirits! Between the 5th and the 7th, you may become aware that someone is attracted to you, as your inner vision becomes strong enough to see these motivations. You, as well, may find yourself to drawn to someone, despite yourself.

From the 10th to the 13th, you could be in a position to get a normally aggro person to relax and chill for a minute. If you yourself have been feeling stressed, it would be a good time to find a spiritual retreat. Between the 13th and the 15th, take care to guard yourself against emotional exploitation – this is a time where you may be easygoing to a fault. Especially if you’re riding high on the good vibes that Mercury conjunct Jupiter brings on the 11th or 12th.

Between the 25th and 27th, you may find yourself having altogether too fuzzy feelings for someone, or they for you, as Venus is square to your ruler, Neptune. It’s one of those situations that could be hurtful, yes, but man, what a great inspiration for an artistic piece! On Halloween, and starting on the 28th, it’s a good time to put this emotion into action and create a representation of this event!
