The United States Horoscope

Posted by Victoria Reinertsdatter on 24th Oct 2016

So, before I get into this, I feel the need to gloat a little. Not too long ago, it was announced that someone had in fact, found Hillary Clinton’s time of birth and that it was 2:18 am. In my article on this, I rectified it as being about 7:41 pm. Like many others, I immediately pulled the chart for that new time, more excited at what I thought was going to be a more accurate look and...wah wah wah.

A lot of it didn’t make any sense, but, I sort of kept an open mind because, you know, rectification isn’t having the exact birth time, either, exactly so, maybe... So, I said, “Okay, what’s the source?”

As it turns out, the source is someone who is now waffling on his story. A number of us questioned this birth time because frankly, the chart that it pulls up is almost laughably off. Beyond that, what ended up happening was the astrologer who first claimed that he’d made a deal with a government employee. If he guessed the time correctly, the employee would say nothing. He got to that time, and lo, she said nothing and so- that’s what he went with.

However, later he retracted the story, saying he sometimes exaggerates and well, this is a part of his charm. Several have defended him in this, saying they know him to be an honorable person and a couple even suggested a conspiracy theory on the part of the Clinton camp to keep that birth time obscured.

I’m obviously a pretty ardent fan of astrology here, but, my first thought was, “Um, seriously?”

So, anyway, there’s that. No, Clinton’s time of birth hasn’t been found.

What I am going to go into, however, is something quite a few people requested- and, I’m still waffling on putting forth my exact prediction. I have mentioned it in a few circles, money where my mouth is and all that- but, great googly moogly I don’t know how to tactfully convey what I’ve seen. Or do it without twitching, collapsing on the floor, and wailing.

I could mean Trump, I could mean Clinton- hard to say given the tenure of this presidential race, isn’t it? Particularly as I listed Cthulhu as one of the candidates. My opinion of the whole thing might be pretty clear in that one. I did mention before that I am in fact, a fan of Gary Johnson but.. then.. oh man. Is it egg on my face or is it moisturizer...or...is it something worse. Trump is running, and at this point, you really couldn’t be shocked by much, could you?

*cough*

So, how does one predict the outcome of the US Presidential Election cycle? Really depends on who you talk to. Some use certain methods based off the Sibley chart- and some will argue and scream about that. Some use other methods based on transits based off of the Sibley chart- and again...on and on it goes, but, ultimately what you want to do is take a bunch of charts covering different bases, and compare them. What’s the Sibley chart? I am SO glad you asked. It puts the signing of the US Declaration of Independence at around 5 pm, but there are a few holes in this. Ha! Bet you thought when I said “argue and scream” I was referring to others and not myself- surprise. Nope. I don’t generally like the Sibley for a bunch of reasons I’m not going into here because I will rant a long time about that. I do use it, though, from time to time and I don’t hate it hate it, I just always felt somewhat unsure of it. Though it is the one most widely used- and I often have to refrain from using the old mothers’ line here: if everybody else was jumpin’ off a bridge

Anyway. Again, there’s that cough. I should get that checked out or something. Why do I go with this time instead of the others out there? Because I’m a history nerd, that’s why. Without going into another complete blog about the fact: looking at historical fact, it’s pretty easy to arrive at that time.

Let’s start with this one, because it’s as good as any to go with. The US Declaration of Independence. Though I am going to touch on a couple of other things- the primary focus of this will be the strong 10th house.

I think even if you don’t know how to read a chart, the first thing you’re probably seeing is that big ol’ bunch of planets all in two houses: the 9th and 10th. If you are a little more well-versed, you might note that the 10th is where the Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and the MC are- and those are all some serious heavy hitters. The thing I always noticed first, though was that the US has Libra Rising- and I notice this, because I have Libra Rising, and frankly: we can be pretty vain like that. More than this, though- remember what I said about the Ascendant in this month’s Astrology Lesson. This is where we see how a person- or, in this case, a country, wants to be seen, wants others to see it. With Libra- law and order, principals, nearly a fanatical level of defending those ideals and- well, yeah, that’s the US, all right, isn’t it?

Though I will often rip jokes about patriotism- this isn’t entirely a great description of what’s at play here- but it’s also not entirely inaccurate either. Yes, there are strong principles at play, and yes, Libra rising conveys an incredible tenacity in defending them and a consistency at play in ideology. However, here is where you get into the difference between Demanding and Commanding presence. The biggest downshot of Libra rising is in the fact that there is a strong tendency to attempt to dictate things. Moving on, though- there’s a square. Oh, of COURSE, there’s a freaking square and that square is with the MC. So, before you get defensive about what I have said here, understand: that’s what the square says most will do of this. Won’t admit that’s what’s up. Won’t admit that it’s actually incredibly stubborn. People with this particular square would love to- and truly do believe that they are actually very kind, caring types who are engaging in constructive discourse: tough love. The reality is, though, if you look at the foreign policy for the past few decades- that’s not really the case.

Additionally, many people in the states don’t realize how the rest of the world actually perceives the US. It’s leadership and foreign policy matters in particular. Here’s where we go into Pluto- and of course, I’m gonna go into Pluto: because there’s a beautiful trine there. Except, when it comes to this particular issue, it’s pretty clear that the US Government isn’t relying on astrology- because if they were, they would know that this shows that taking care of domestic affairs- as Pluto is in the 4th: would vastly benefit our nation. (Though, if they were, choosing this particular time and date wasn’t a bad choice, and I’ll get to that in a minute.)

Continuing on the Libra tip there, we’ve got the First House, the planet there at the heart being Saturn. Saturn is all about principals and tradition, but also ruling factors. I swear, I am not being entirely negative in this post: this is a beautiful example of the principals this nation was actually founded on because it shows that determination and grit are deeply instilled. The downshot is that you really do not want to challenge a country, or a person with this placement or it might just Freedom you right into the dark ages. More than that, we have another square here- this time with Saturn and the Sun in the 10th, and this shows a really high level of commitment and dedication. Problem being, again: don’t challenge those things it’s committed to.

This 10th house is actually pretty interesting and when you’re looking at mundane astrology- the 10th house usually depicts the leadership and how a country interacts with other countries. If you’ll look- that’d be Cancer. This is a really powerful, protective thing here, indicating that there’s a lot of influence there. If we look, well, there towards the tail end of that 10th is Mercury but, it’s in retrograde- which I think speaks pretty well in terms of how the US tends to communicate with other countries of the world. Sure, it’s hollering- but, is it well understood? Is diplomacy really a thing?

The thing is, this is a really strong 10th. Let’s get into that MC there. The MC is how someone, or in this case, the US, sees itself- and well, this is leadership. It really conveys this big sense of “We’re the standard by which everyone should live up to”. Eyeballs drag over to that Sun there, and this shows how dominating the US can be around the world- it’s very much the elevated leader that you either love or you hate- and very few have a middle of the road opinion. With Venus and Jupiter also here- this is where the charm comes in. Where the charisma is amplified- and say what you want: there is a certain charm and charisma to everything the US does. There’s a style there that... well, just won’t be ignored, basically. Love it or hate it- you’re still looking.

So, the thing about that Mercury, though, is that it’s opposition Pluto. Here’s where you get into our messed up state of things stateside, really because that shows pretty clearly that the leadership of the US- has no idea how to talk to the people. It doesn’t engage in anything like a constructive dialogue and over time, what happens, as a result, is there are riots, there are revolts, and in reaction to these things: the government knee jerks, messes up. The balance then would be to yes, protect people- but, not to control them. Pluto being there in the 4th and also retrograde- this is exactly the balance that the US Government needs, but: can’t ever seem to manage. That previously mentioned trine- same deal. Arguments about morality, constant thing- reactionary decision making, but oddly enough also? Progress. 4th house Capricorn means essentially, it’s all a work-in-progress, which is really very hopeful in spite of the other issues at play.

If we look at Mercury again- we see there’s a sextile there to Neptune, which does show that inspirational words can really amp the people up and when the leadership’s encouraging in this way- innovation tends to occur. Following that link to Neptune, well, you find that it is in 12th House Virgo, which is all about sacrifice but, not recognizing that there are things standing in the way of the real greatness. Two biggest issues: health and our working class. I’m going to close this out with the fact that Neptune is in square with Mars there in the 9th. You know what this means?

We can do better. The innovation and imagination at play in this country, combined with that fiery Mars energy- there is absolutely no reason why the US can’t progress even further as a society, as a people. The fact that both Uranus and Mars are in that 9th house, linked with that square to Neptune in the 12th means that the way we think, the way we innovate, the way we communicate and the authority in which we are able to convey things matters.

As such- yours does, too. So make sure that it does- get out there and make it heard.

Having said all of that, check out the chart for inauguration day. It’s a void, of course, moon, to boot. We’ll talk more about this on Facebook, soon!
