Numerology revolves around the study of the symbolism of numbers. It can be used to help you figure out your personality strengths and weaknesses or help you figure out a plan of action to take advantage of upcoming opportunities.
The practice of numerology can be traced as far back as Egypt and Babylonia some 10,000 years ago. Pythagoras, who developed many of the basic ideas that form the mathematical foundation, is thought to have organized the field of numerology around 2600 years ago in ancient Greece.
Numerology is once again coming to the forefront thanks to an increase in both research and publication. Using the concept of life path numbers and master numbers amongst other things, you can use numerology to help guide you through life.
Whether you are experiencing relationship challenges or life challenges, numerology can help you gain some focus and clarity around those difficult issues in life. By using things such as your birth date and your name, you can actually decode different aspects of your personality. Since everything in the universe vibrates at a specific frequency, everything has a specific property or quality, including names and numbers.
Everything in numerology is reduced down to a single digit, using the numbers 1-9. The only exception is the special master numbers of 11 and 22. Numbers are reduced down to a single number by adding them together. For example, the number 21 would be reduced down to 3 by adding together the numbers 2 + 1. There is also a master number 33.
Letters are converted to numbers as well and then added together. The practice of numerology is essentially any belief in mystical, divine, or other special relationships between a number and a coinciding event.
Two Schools of Thought
The modern day practice of numerology is typically broken down into two schools, the Chaldean system and the Modern system. The Modern system or school is said to have originated from Pythagoras but might also be traced back to Philolaus, born approximately twenty-five years after Pythagoras. The Chaldean system uses something called the cuneiform tablets, which date thousands of years prior to Pythagoras’s birth. The Chaldean system is based on the concept of vibration where the Modern system tends to use the alphabet more.
Numerology is one of the oldest sciences known to man. Pythagoras is often known as the “father of numerology” merely because of the many advancements he made in the science. Numbers and mathematical formulas can explain many things in the universe and numbers play a huge role in your life whether you realize it or not.
If you have never had a numerology reading, you might be surprised at how accurate and insightful it can be. Numbers influence things such as your finances, your health and even your relationships when it comes down to it. It can really help you figure out why you do some of the things you do and it can give you great insight into your personality and insight into future decisions.
Numbers are incredibly powerful and they are seen as symbols, and can be traced back thousands of years. Numerology can be a fascinating and insightful practice that can be an immensely powerful force in your life. Whether you are using numerology for greater understanding or for decision-making, numerology is an excellent age-old method of divination, based more on science than the occult.
