Your Lucky Numbers for July 27-August 2, 2016

Hey,

I thought I would open this week a little differently- by sharing with you some of the superstitions for increasing good luck, around the world. These go just a little beyond the lucky rabbit’s foot- which really wasn’t lucky for the bunny, anyway.

• Did you know that some people believe that if you cut a string to about 11.8 inches and loop it around your pinky finger five times, then tie it off: the left if you are a woman, the right if you are a man: it’s said to increase your luck with money?
• Some people believe that if, during your time at the casino or otherwise, you are winning- you should not wash your hands.
• Being a jerk at the table can cause you to lose, some people believe. The old Kenny Rogers song croons, “You never count your money, when you’re sitting at the table..” is an example of this- though, in the Old West, it was also a pretty good way to get yourself robbed. Other gambling etiquette faux pas? Whistling or singing at the table, crossing your arms and legs. Generally, just being rude is not good juju at the tables.
• Apparently, however, being rude to the roulette ball is okay. Swearing at the ball as it goes is said to lead it to a winning number.
• Never, ever bet against a pregnant woman.
• Using $50.00 bills. This one’s said to stem from the old Mob times when it’s said that they would stick a fifty in the pocket of the men they’d execute.
• Women who’ve never played the game are said to do better with dice.
